We consider that being a good lawyer and adviser is a handcraft, like a tailor or a doctor. If what we make is not suited to the client and connected to a purpose, it will only work a short while, or superficially, or not at all.
Like a good tailor: we take measures, understand the needs, design a specific outfit that will last long and can adapt. We may have some models in store that already fit perfectly, we may have to adjust them, we may have to design from scratch.
Like a good doctor: we consider health (efficiency, agency and well-being) as an intimate yet social and collective issue. We look at the body as a whole and take time for each organ and vital function. We may address our clients to a specialist for some specific needs. We may have some science and experience of similar cases, but each person is unique and knows themselves better.
So it’s teamwork: consent and confidentiality, empathy, diagnosis, solutions, implementation.
